Boiler repairs and Servicing

Welcome to my 5-minute guide to boiler servicing

How Much Does A Boiler Service Cost

A standard boiler service will cost £60 including vat and that includes cleaning out a magnetic system filter (if you have one). Your service package will include a full inspection as well as flue gas tests. However, if there are problems with your boiler, the cost of parts and labour to fix your boiler won’t be included in the price.

How Often Should I Have My Boiler Serviced

It is recommended getting your boiler serviced every 12 months. In fact, most boiler manufacturers won’t honour their warranty unless your boiler has been serviced by a Gas Safe Engineer every 12 months.

So, if you’ve got a reasonably new boiler, you’ll want to ensure not only that you get a regular service and a certificate or a entry in the service book.

What Is Included In The Service

Once a boiler service is completed, Customers will get the following information on their boiler service certificate:

Details of flue gas tests, Magnetic filter cleaned, Gas Safe number, engineer’s name, company name and address, issues uncovered from the inspection and advice on what to do next. Details of any issues that are cause for immediate safety concerns parts Inspection

Many boiler repairs come about because an appliance hasn’t been checked properly. Boiler engineers don’t have to check all parts in a boiler. But, by doing so, you may be able to prevent a large repair bill and prolong the life of your boiler.

Checking parts included in the list below, will be prevention, rather than cure:

Heat exchanger,  Pumps, Fans, Expansion vessels, Gas valve, Combi and System Boiler Pressure Check.

Magnetic System Filter

Clean any magnetic filter and add extra central heating inhibitor if required.

Scale Reducer

Finally, check any scale inhibitor to see if it requires topping up with chemicals or changing for a new one.
